In a recent article posted to the Philanthropy Roundtable, Betsy DeVos discusses her career and her and her husband’s charitable contributions over the year. Betsy DeVos has worked to help individuals who are less fortunate and could benefit from her assistance for many years. She originally began working in politics while still in college and became the leader of political action committees and party organization. She co founded the Windquest Group with her husband Dick DeVos in 1989, which has allowed them to pursue many other business endeavors over the years. Despite their great success in business and investing, Betsy and Dick DeVos continue to focus a great deal of their attention to giving to non-profit and charitable organizations. Dick DeVos has given a large portion of his time and effort to help a variety of interests from schools to art galleries and museums.
Dick DeVos founded the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation which is based in Grand Rapids, MI to donate to a variety of cultural and community organizations and activities. Some of the million in which I had discovered that he has donated, has gone directly to children’s hospitals, education, Thunderbird School of Global Management, and various other projects aimed at helping residents get ahead and obtain the resources they need to enrich their lives.
After some additional research, I discovered that Dick DeVos has taken a real interest in education from the elementary level, all the way up to higher education such as business school. He has even set up an aviation academy for young aviation hopefuls to help them fulfill their dreams of becoming a pilot. Dick DeVos is a highly successful entrepreneur and businessman, but more than anything, he loves to help those individuals who need a helping hand to reach their goals.
